[iOS Game Review]Candy Crush Saga and how to get extra life

Normally, I wouldn't be attracted to this genre of game. But this game is kind of fun.

Here is why:

  1. Your progress is visible on a big map with all your friends, and you can see who you just surpassed and who is about to catch you up.
  2. This game comes with a anti-addiction system. You have only 5 lives, if you lose them all, you will need to wait for half an hour to play again(of course you can use IAP to play right away with price on 1$), which is perfect for people like me who does not have several hours of time to spend on one game.
  3. All the candies sound and look really delicious...
BTW, a little tip, if you really want to continue playing after 5 lives, you can change your system clock on iPad of iPhone for like 2 hours advance, you will be able to get extra lives. Don't forget to change it back after playing. ;)

QStringList related performance

Recently I had to process a text file with a certain format, around 1 million lines, and for each line, some segments are separated by blank space (one/two/three, not always single blank space). At the beginning, I used the most natural method, go through each line, and split with a regular expression: QRegularExpression reg_ex_empty = QRegularExpression ( "\\s+" ); Lines[i].split(reg_ex_empty) Unfortunately, the performance is very poor, for a file of merely 70k lines, it took almost 14s. I tried different kind of profiling, the bottleneck is not the initialization of regex. In fact, even if I just split(“ “), and then remove the empty element from the QStringList, it still took 14s. In the end, it seems the performance bottle neck is in the removal of empty elements in list(with StringList.removeAll() or regex).
